A Queens man was arrested for multiple burglaries throughout Nassau and now faces deportation after it was determined he was in the country illegally, the county police’s Major Case Squad reported on Tuesday, May 5.
Mario Hurtado Galindo was charged with six counts of burglary in the second degree, six counts of criminal mischief in the third degree, police said. He also an arrest warrant for burglary out of Richmond, Texas.
Detectives said Galindo unlawfully entered various residences in New Hyde Park, Westbury, Bethpage, Woodmere, and Roslyn Heights. Once inside, he removed assorted jewelry, designer handbags and U.S. currency, the detectives said.
After an extensive investigation, the defendant was located and placed under arrest without incident.
Further investigation revealed that Galindo is also illegally in the United States and is subject to removal proceedings. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, May 6 at First District Court at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
