Joseph Vijay, whose Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in recently concluded Tamil Naduassembly elections, on Wednesday staked claim to form the next government in the state.TVKemerged as a surprise winner -- ending the dominance of the two regional political parties — DMK and AIADMK -- who had been ruling the state for decades. The interesting thing here to note is that it was Vijay’s party debut electoral battle and in the very first attempt, he was able to achieve a feat that even two national parties — BJP and Congress — have not been able to, for years.

Post Vijay’s electoral blockbuster in Tamil Nadu, let’s take a look at his 5-member team, which was at the core of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s functioning and responsible for its flare performance.

N Anand, also known as ‘Bussy Anand’, is a fan-turned-organiser of Joseph Vijay’s TVK. Anand had been a former MLA from Puducherry’s Bussy Constituency in 2006. In the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, he contested from T Nagar constituency and claimed victory by a margin of 13,027 votes against AIADMK’s B Sathiyanarayanan.

Anand played a pivotal role in transforming and organising TVK Chief’s fan club - Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.

CTR Nirmal Kumar, formerly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its social media strategy, joined TVK’s political ship.

In TVK, Nirmal Kumar focused on surveys and voter data and had confidently hoped for a 30 per cent vote share in 2026 eletions.

With BJP, Kumar’s data czar helped shape BJP’s digital presence.

A former IRS officer, Arunraj, is also part of TVK’s organizing team and is responsible for managing the party’s administrative strategy. Arunraj, who has handled cases linked to tax raids and investigations, took a voluntary retirement and joined TVK. He soon became a member of TVK's core team.

In the 2026 elections, he contested from the Thiruchengode seat and claimed victory.

Sengottaiyan, a nine-time MLA from Gobichettipalayam, had joined TVK in 2025. He was closely linked to MGR -- MG Ramachandran -- and an avid follower of J Jayalalithaa, former CM.
