Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday (May 6) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of being behind thetwin blasts reported near Border Security Force establishments in the state, alleging the incidents were part of a broader strategy ahead of upcoming elections. His remarks followed two explosions reported in quick succession near Border Security Force facilities in Jalandhar and Amritsar, including one close to the BSF headquarters. While no injuries were reported, the incidents triggered a high-level response, with Punjab Police and central agencies launching a detailed investigation and tightening security across sensitive areas.
"Investigation is underway into these minor blasts. This is the BJP's preparation for the Punjab elections. BJP gets votes by spreading violence and fear among people. I want to tell the BJP to stop. The people of Punjab always want peace. Wherever the BJP has to contest elections, it goes there and creates fights," Mann Said.
Mann questioned the timing of the blasts, suggesting a political motive. He alleged that “wherever the BJP wants to go and contest, such incidents happen,” and urged the party to “stop these kinds of acts,” claiming the explosions were linked to preparations for elections in Punjab.
It further added, “AAP is harmful for Punjab’s security. AAP has pushed Punjab back into a dark era. AAP has taken a contract to destabilise Punjab again. AAP is injurious for Punjab’s safety.”
Authorities, however, have not indicated any political angle so far and are focusing on forensic analysis and intelligence inputs to determine the nature and source of the blasts.
